BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) Senior quarterback Brandon Doughty threw for 457 yards and six touchdowns - five in the first half - as Western Kentucky rolled over Miami (Ohio) 56-14 on Saturday.

Doughty, who passed for 381 yards in the first half, had touchdown passes of nine, three, five, four and 59 yards yards over the first two quarters as Western Kentucky built a 49-7 halftime lead.

The 49 points were the most the Hilltoppers (3-1) had scored in a half since scoring 52 in the first half against West Virginia Tech on Sept. 8, 2007.

Western Kentucky's Taywan Taylor made nine catches for 154 yards and two touchdowns. Jared Dangerfield hauled in 11 passes for 148 yards and a score.

''I thought we played a complete game, and that's the first one we've put together,'' said Doughty, who completed 33 of 41 passes.

Overall Western Kentucky outgained the RedHawks (1-3) 569-291 in total yardage. The Hilltoppers tallied 464 passing yards to Miami's 168 and held a 27-15 edge in first downs.

WKU also won the turnover battle 4-0, as DeAndre Farris, Leverick Johnson and De'Andre Simmons grabbed interceptions and Nick Holt gathered in a RedHawk fumble.

The Hilltoppers' win came after their first loss of the season, a 41-38 decision last week at Indiana.

WKU marched 90 yards on the game's first drive. Doughty capped the series with a 9-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Antwane Grant.

Doughty's second TD toss came on a flea-flicker to a wide open Taylor from 59 yards out.

Doughty threw touchdown passes to Taylor, Dangerfield and Tyler Higbee in the second quarter. His final TD pass went to Higbee in the fourth quarter.

Quarterbacks Drew Kummer and Gus Ragland each threw touchdown passes for the RedHawks.

''To come out in the first half and play that well, I couldn't be happier,'' coach Jeff Brohm said. ''We executed, took shots downfield on offense, made plays on defense. . It was a great win for us.''

Senior kicker Garrett Schwettman broke the school's career scoring record on his third extra point of the day. The kick marked the 299th point of his career, passing a record of 298 set in 2007 by former WKU kicker Chris James.

Schwettman converted all eight of his extra point attempts Saturday and now has tallied 304 points in his career

WKU goes back into Conference USA play next week at Rice for a game slated to kick off at 3:30 p.m. EDT on Oct. 3. Miami will travel to Mid-American Conference rival Kent State at 3:30 the same afternoon.
