The honor comes a week after Sooner quarterback Baker Mayfield won the same award in leading Oklahoma to a 52-46 win over TCU.
Westbrook caught a career-high 10 passes in the Sooners’ victory over Texas, setting an Oklahoma school-record with 232 receiving yards and three touchdowns. One hundred sixty of those receiving yards were touchdown catches of 71, 42 and 47 yards.
In his last two games, the senior wide receiver from Cameron, Texas, has 17 pass receptions for a total of 390 yards, a two-game Oklahoma record, and five touchdowns, all on catches of 40-yards or more. Westbrook averaged almost 23 yards per catch in wins over TCU and Texas in successive weekends.
In conference games only, Westbrook leads the Big 12 in three offensive categories: receptions per game (8.5), receiving yards (197.0 per game) and scoring (15.0 per game).
Earlier this week, the 6-foot, 175-pound receiver who OU head coach Bob Stoops says is as fast on his feet as he needs to be, was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award honors the top offensive player among Football Bowl Subdivision teams (formerly NCAA Division I) each week during the college football regular season. The honoree must exhibit the enduring characteristics that define the eponymous former Texas running back and NFL player: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, tenacity and community.
The recipient must also meet one or more additional criteria: He must have been born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas high school and/or played at a Texas-based junior college program or a four-year FBS Texas college.
Before coming to Oklahoma a year ago, Westbrook attended Blinn Community College in Brenham, Texas.
