Clemson starting cornerback Xavier Brewer and backup safety Carlton Lewis have been suspended for the Tigers' game with Wofford for violating team rules.

The school announced the suspensions about 30 minutes prior to Saturday's game. The nature of the violation was not disclosed.

Brewer is a junior who started in last week's 43-19 victory over Troy and was scheduled to start against Wofford. He finished with seven tackles and broke up a pass against the Trojans.

Lewis is a junior who was listed as backup to free safety Rashard Hall. Lewis has three tackles and three quarterback pressures last week.
