Crook, defense lead Albany past Duquesne 17-14

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) D.J. Crook threw two touchdown passes and Albany held on to beat Duquesne 17-14 on Saturday.

Crook connected with Brad Harris for a 34-yard scoring strike. Crook's 29-yard touchdown pass to Zee Roberson tied the game at 14 early in the third quarter. Patrick Toole kicked a 28-yard field goal with 1:16 remaining in the third quarter for the Great Danes.

Albany (2-2) forced two turnovers and held Duquesne (2-2) to 81 yards of total offense in the second half.

Dillon Buechel led the Dukes just past midfield with five seconds to play. Chris Johnson picked off Buechel at the Albany 2 to end it.

Rafiq Douglas bullied in from the 1 to cap a 14-play, 73-yard opening drive for the Dukes. Buechel threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Chris King just before halftime to give the Dukes a 14-7 lead.
