Jeff Matthews passed for 521 yards and five touchdowns as Cornell came back from a halftime deficit to defeat winless Columbia 62-41 on Saturday.

Matthews, who completed 40 of 46 for the Big Red (4-5, 2-4 Ivy League), connected with Shane Savage for touchdowns of 47, 46 and 28 yards in the second half, when Cornell outscored Columbia 34-7. Savage finished with eight catches for 199 yards and Luke Tasker had 12 receptions for 138 yards.

The Lions (0-9, 0-6) have lost 10 straight since a 20-17 victory over Cornell last season.

Columbia went into halftime with a 34-28 lead on Sean Brackett's third touchdown pass of the second quarter, an 8-yarder to Louis DiNovo with 8 seconds left.

Brackett completed 26 of 47 for 409 yards but he was unable to keep the Lions moving in the second half. Columbia's first five second-half possessions ended with punts.
