ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) Colorado quarterback Sefo Liufau left the game early in the third quarter and will not return after injuring his right ankle or lower left leg.
The senior, who was initially injured in the first half, limped to the locker room with about 11+ minutes left in the third quarter. Freshman Steven Montez replaced Liufau, who was 16 of 25 for 246 yards with three TD passes.
After throwing a 70-yard TD pass to give Colorado a 28-24 lead early in the third quarter, Liufau stayed down before going to the sideline to get retaped. As trainers worked on him during the ensuing kickoff, a Michigan player nearly ran into him when he was tackled on the sideline.
