College QB suspended, cited for animal cruelty after allegedly hitting dog

Missouri State quarterback Breck Ruddick was suspended by the team last Friday after he was accused of animal cruelty and breaking a dog's jaw. Ruddick was asked by a friend to watch her dog, an Australian shepherd named Luca, but the dog was later found loose outside and bleeding. The dog needed surgery to repair its jaw and multiple cracked teeth, and reportedly can no longer eat solid food.

According to The Associated Press, Ruddick was ticketed Monday and "cited with animal cruelty and allowing a dog to run at large."

Photos of the dog went viral last week on Facebook when a friend of the dog's owner shared the story.

Ruddick's attorney said in a statement that his "reputation for integrity" will be restored following an investigation.
