Cobb leads VMI over Furman 31-15

LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) Al Cobb threw two touchdown passes and ran for one more and Virginia Military Institute snapped a six-game losing streak with a 31-15 victory over Furman on Saturday.

Cobb connected with Dane Forlines for a 19-yard touchdown pass, and later ran in from the 1 to give VMI a 17-0 halftime lead. Jabari Turner ran for a 1-yard score in the third quarter and Cobb threw a 14-yard TD pass to J.C. Garvin with 8:29 remaining to cap the scoring for VMI (2-8, 1-4 Southern).

Cobb finished 24 of 37 for 239 yards and led the Keydets with 49 yards rushing.

P.J. Blazejowski threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Chad Scott to pull Furman (2-7, 1-3) within 24-7 midway through the third quarter, but threw interceptions to Alijah Robinson, Damian Jones and Greg Sanders in the fourth.
