The Clemson football team opened up their home season with an ugly victory. The Tigers held on for a 30-24 win over Troy on Saturday.

The Clemson football team opened their home season on Saturday and it was ugly to say the least.

The Tigers defeated the Trojans of Troy 30-24 and only led by halftime.

It was tough to watch and the offense was out of sorts basically all day. The defense played pretty well, but still gave up plenty of chunk plays and allowed Troy to move the ball down the field several times- including twice in the fourth quarter.

This is not something Clemson football fans should just be content with. This is ridiculous.

The Tigers were out of sync and showed no heart, focus, urgency, or hunger all game long.

That starts with the coaching staff, the captains and leaders, and goes all the way down to the third string walk-ons.

This is absolutely inexcusable and the Tigers should be ashamed of their performance today.

Deshaun Watson completed 27-of-533 passes for 292 yards and three touchdowns. He also had two interceptions and missed several targets throughout the game.

The wide receivers also didn’t help Watson as they dropped several passes that hit them right in the hands.

He also led the team in rushing with 10 carries for 55 yards.

Wayne Gallman only carried the ball nine times for 34 yards while the host of second-string running backs (Dye, Choice, and Fuller) carried the ball for a combined 34 yards.

Clemson football could get no rushing game going as the offensive struggled to open any holes up all game and that also led to Watson being rushed all game long.

There are many things to get fixed in the next week for the Tigers, but it all starts with urgency. Until the team is brought down to earth- which this game should have done for them- nothing will matter.
