The Clemson defense took another hit this offseason when the Tigers learned that redshirt sophomore defensive back Jefferie Gibson will be transferring.

Clemson, which finished the 2015 season ranked No. 2 in the nation with a 14-1 record, already lost star defensive ends Shaw Lawson and Kevin Dodd, top CB Mackensie Alexander and starting safeties T.J. Green and Jevon Kearse to the NFL Draft, and will now lose Gibson.

Gibson, who tallied six tackles in 15 games this season, is a 6-foot-4, 200-pound rising redshirt sophomore and was rated the 19th-best prospect in the state of North Carolina when he graduated from Hope Mills High School.
