Chattanooga hires John Carroll's Tom Arth as Mocs new coach
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) Chattanooga has dipped into the Division III ranks to find its new football coach by hiring Tom Arth away from John Carroll.
The school announced Arth's hiring Monday. Athletic director David Blackburn said in a statement that Arth ''quickly separated himself from an impressive pool of candidates.''
Arth replaces Russ Huesman, who left for Richmond on Wednesday after going 59-37 in eight seasons. Chattanooga has won at least one Football Championship Subdivision playoff game for three straight years.
The 35-year-old Arth went 40-8 at John Carroll with three NCAA Division III playoff berths in four seasons. John Carroll was 12-2 this season and reached the Division III semifinals.
Arth graduated from John Carroll in 2003 and spent three seasons backing up Peyton Manning as an Indianapolis Colts quarterback.
