Chattanooga bests Elon 20-9
Keon Williams rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns as Chattanooga bested Elon 20-9 in a Southern Conference matchup Saturday.
Elon (2-6, 1-3) scored first, as a John Gallagher 19-yard field goal capped a 16-play, 80-yard first quarter drive. Chattanooga (5-2, 3-1) answered with a nine-play, 75-yard drive of their own, culminating in Williams' 4-yard TD run. Gallagher's second field goal of the day, from 30 yards out, cut the lead to 1, but Chattanooga marched right back for 65 yards in 12 plays as Williams punched one in from two yards for the 14-6 halftime score.
The Mocs added two Nick Pollard field goals, from 32 and 19 yards, in the second half, while Elon could only answer with Gallagher's third field goal of the day, a 23-yarder in the third quarter.
Mike Quinn passed for 237 yards for Elon, despite a heavy rain much of the afternoon.
