Cal Poly 41, San Diego 14
Andre Broadous threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more to lead Cal Poly over San Diego 41-14 on Saturday night in the season opener for both teams.
Broadous passed for 135 yards and ran for 113 on 15 attempts, averaging 7.5 yards per carry. Deonte Williams added 109 yards on the ground and a TD on a 12 yard pass in the Mustangs first game as a member of the Big Sky Conference. Kristaan Ivory scored on a 2-yard run.
For the Toreros, Mason Mills was 15 for 27 for 138 yards with three interceptions. Darrion Hancock scored on a 1-yard run in the second quarter and Tobin Gramyk scored on a fumble recovery in the third.
Cal Poly scored first with a field goal and never gave up the lead.
This was only the second time the two schools have met. The Mustangs beat USD 36-14 in 1959.
