Boise State starting middle linebacker Byron Hout will miss the rest of the season after breaking his foot in the No. 3 Broncos' victory over Idaho.
Coach Chris Petersen says Hout will have surgery later this week to repair the foot and it's not clear if he'll be ready to play in a bowl game.
Hout was making the transition from defensive line and his 34 tackles are fourth best on the team.
It also comes as the Broncos (9-0, 5-0 WAC) get ready for two tough games. They host Fresno State Friday then play at No. 19 Nevada on Nov. 26.

Petersen says Hout's injury will create more opportunities for linebackers Derrell Acrey, Tommy Smith and Daron Mackey.
