Big Ten to review athletics oversight after PSU
Penn State plans to cooperate with the Big Ten after the conference said it would review the child sex-abuse scandal at the school and reserved the right to hand down sanctions pending its findings.
The 12-member league also announced Thursday it would begin an immediate review of institutional control of athletics at its schools, including the possibility of a common set of ''stress tests'' to ensure accountability and oversight.
Penn State spokeswoman Lisa Powers said the school understood the concerns of the conference's Council of President and Chancellors, and that Penn State President Rodney Erickson would participate in upcoming discussions with his counterparts.
Former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky faces more than 50 criminal charges alleging he molested young boys for years on campus and elsewhere.
