Bears hire two to front office, one area scout
Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Pace announced two key front-office hires last Friday, according to Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Former Baltimore Ravens scout Joe Douglas was named director of college scouting, per the Sun-Times, while Anthony "Champ" Kelly takes over as Chicago's new pro personnel director. Kelly last served as the assistant pro personnel director for the Denver Broncos.
Douglas is 38 years old and joins the Bears after 15 seasons with the Ravens, Finley notes in his report. He helped the team acquire Super Bowl-winning quarterback Joe Flacco. Kelly, 35, had been with the Broncos since 2007, so he is familiar with Bears head coach John Fox and offensive coordinator Adam Gase.
Pace also named the hiring of Christopher Prescott as an area scout, according to the Sun-Times. Prescott has 13 seasons of NFL experience between the New York Jets and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Wrapping up the changes, a source told Finley that trainer Chris Hanks will not return to the Bears for the 2015 season.
