Appalachian St. 38, W. Carolina 27
Logan Hallock completed the first 20 passes of his collegiate career, passing for two touchdowns in Appalachian State's 38-27 victory over Western Carolina on Saturday.
Hallock, whose only previous playing time was taking a knee on two late-game snaps earlier this season, entered in the first quarter after starting quarterback Jamal Jackson injured his knee. Jackson had thrown a 32-yard touchdown pass to Tony Washington. Once Jackson went to the bench, he never returned and Hallock never misfired until his 21st pass, an incompletion.
He finished 20 of 21 for 230 yards and no interceptions. Hallock's scoring passes were an 18-yarder to Sean Price and a 16-yarder to Drew Bailey that gave the Mountaineers (6-3, 4-2) a 38-13 lead.
Steven Miller rushed for 245 yards and a touchdown for Appalachian State. For Western Carolina (1-8, 0-7), Troy Mitchell ran for two touchdowns and threw a 74-yard TD to Deja Alexander.
