Alabama State takes down Alabama A&M 31-7
Daniel Duhart threw three touchdown passes to build a lead and help Alabama State move past Southwestern Athletic Conference rival Alabama A&M 31-7 in the 72nd Annual Magic City Classic Saturday night.
The Hornets (6-2, 6-1 SWAC) took a 14-0 lead into halftime as Duhart found both Jarrett Neely and DeMario Bell for 15-yard touchdowns in the second quarter.
Duhart extended the lead for Alabama State with a 38-yard strike to Earl Lucas Jr. early in the fourth quarter.
The Bulldogs (2-6, 2-4) got their lone score of the day when Brandon Wells hit Montaurius Smith for a 13-yard score to make it 21-7.
Alabama State added a Bobby Wenzig 28-yard field goal and a Rodney Cross 2-yard rushing touchdown to cap off the scoring. The victory extended the Hornets' winning streak to six games after dropping their first two to start the season.
