Akron football coach Terry Bowden says he has now paid the fine related to a speeding ticket he received in southern Alabama that prompted an arrest warrant against him for failing to appear in court.
In a statement from the University of Akron, Bowden says he got the ticket in July and just forgot to pay it. But he says he paid the fine over the phone Tuesday after getting a notice in the mail about it.
Court records show the former North Alabama and Auburn head coach failed to appear in municipal court in Georgiana, located near the Florida line. Bowden was charged with speeding and driving with an improper tag on July 5. Documents show he was charged with driving 60 mph in a 35 mph zone.
