A Sooner in name only, Green-Beckham awaits his place in NFL draft
When Dorial Green-Beckham is selected in the NFL draft, which did not happen during Thursday's first round, he will be announced as a wide receiver from Oklahoma.
But as Sooners fans know, the talented, but troubled athlete never played a down for Oklahoma after transferring from Missouri, where he was kicked off the team after a young woman claimed that he forced his way into an apartment and pushed another woman "down at least four stairs."
He had a phenomenal performance in the 2013 SEC championship game, going for 144 yards and two touchdowns. A month later he played in the Cotton Bowl against Oklahoma State. That's the last time he played in a game.
The 6-foot-5, 237-pounder stayed out of trouble while at OU. He had become close with former Sooners receivers coach Jay Norvell, who was let go after the 2014 season as coach Bob Stoops shook up his staff following a disappointing 8-5 season.
Norvell's departure ultimately led Green-Beckham to opt for the NFL draft, where he likely could be the first Sooner to be selected
If you can call him a Sooner.
