UFC Brasilia: Cris Cyborg Wants to Train With Claressa Shields

UFC fighter and Invicta featherweight champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino is getting ready for her upcoming bout against Lina Lansberg in a catchweight bout later this month.
While Justino has an upcoming UFC fight, that doesn’t mean her dance card is full. A couple of days ago she tweeted to two-time Olympic boxing gold medalist Claressa Shields about the idea of training together.
The possible fight Justino was referring to in the tweet was a proposed bout between her and women’s welterweight boxing champion Cecilia Braekhus that might take place on a card featuring Floyd Mayweather and UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor.
According to a report from Champions, the card is supposedly taking place in 2017. Keep in mind there is nothing confirmation that this card is happening (Champions is already famous for clickbait articles) and let’s be honest, it probably never will happen.
I want to help grow all female combat sports! @Claressashields I would love to train together if I fight @1LadyCecilia in boxing! ????????????????

Earlier, Justino included Shields and Kayla Harrison, another Olympic medalist, in a tweet regarding a possible UFC women’s 145-division. Shields politely declined Justino’s offer, saying that boxing is her sport and she wants grow women’s boxing.
Shields is perhaps one of the most popular boxers on the scene and she’s not even a pro yet. I liked Shields’ answer about wanting to help grow women’s boxing. No disrespect to any other women boxers out there, but I think Shields could be the one to help take women’s boxing to the next level. That said, it be cool for Cyborg to train with Shields.
While Justino is regarded as one of the deadliest strikers in MMA, I bet there are some things she could learn from Shields that she could work into her mixed martial arts skill set. Shields could probably learn a thing or two from Justino as well.
Justino sent out a tweet saying she wanted to be a coach on an upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter on FOX Sports 1 or TUF: Latin America, which I think she’d do well at. She’s got a lot of experience and a dangerous game she could teach her team. She could also give her pupils advice about building their own brand and encourage them to volunteer for a cause – if they haven’t already.
If Justino trains with Shields and does get the opportunity to coach on TUF, I think she could bring in the Olympian as a striking/boxing coach.
Again, this isn’t confirming that Shields and Justino are training together, but it would be interesting.
