Georges St. Pierre received a thunderous ovation for his historic UFC welterweight championship showdown against Jake Shields at Friday's official UFC 129 weigh-in held at the Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto, the largest of its kind in company history.

The French-Canadian pound-for-pound great tipped the scales at 169.5 pounds, while the challenger Shields came out to a chorus of boos, making weight at 169 pounds.

In the second title bout, featherweight champion Jose Aldo and Canadian challenger Mark Hominick registered exactly the same weight, coming in at 145 pounds. The raucous crowd erupted for all the Canadians with Hominick earning the loudest ovation after St. Pierre.

Meanwhile, UFC Hall of Fame legend Randy "The Natural" Couture (203.5) received an equally ear-piercing response as he weighed in for the last bout of his career against rebounding Brazilian Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida (204.5).

All but one fighter made weight on their first attempt. Lightweight Benson Henderson initially weighed in at 156.5 pounds before shedding half a pound and successfully weighing in on his second attempt for his clash with Ontario's own Mark Bocek, who made weight at 155 pounds.

A sellout crowd of 55,000 is expected to pack the Rogers Centre for the UFC's long-awaited debut in Ontario on Saturday night as this monumental fight card is highlighted by dual title bouts and a record 10 Canadians in action.
