The Ultimate Fighting Championship is in talks to buy control of NBCUniversal's G4 cable television network, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.
UFC, one of the fastest-growing sports in the US, could use the channel to create new revenue streams and more directly reach its fan base of mostly males between 18 and 34, the report said.
NBCU, a unit of Comcast, hopes the deal would revitalize G4, which has seen its already low viewership decline during prime time.
The Journal quoted an unnamed person familiar with the matter as saying the talks were serious, while another person said UFC was also in talks with other networks and outlets.
