PETA not pleased with Tyson's new show
About 20 people gathered outside Mike Tyson's Henderson, Nev., home Monday to protest the former boxer's new TV show about pigeon racing.
The protest, organized by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), came one day after "Taking On Tyson" debuted on Animal Planet on Sunday night.
The TV show pits Tyson's birds against the feathered stars owned by other pigeon racers in the New York City area.
"Mike doesn't give pigeons a fighting chance," read some signs being held by the protesters. Others read: "Featherweights: No match for a heavyweight," the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
"If Mike Tyson truly loved birds, he would fight for their protection -- not force them into a 'race' that tears them away from their families and subjects them to injuries, exhaustion, and death," PETA vice president Lisa Lange said.
