Japan's Aoh defends WBC title against Boschiero

Japan's Takahiro Aoh has defended his WBC super featherweight title with a split decision over Italy's Devis Boschiero on Sunday.

Two judges ruled the bout 115-113 in favor of Aoh while another called it 116-113 for the challenger in the 12-round bout at Yoyogi Gymnasium.

Aoh improved to 22-2-1 with 10 knockouts while Boschiero dropped to 29-1-1 with 14 KOs.

In another duel, Japan's Shinsuke Yamanaka captured the vacant WBC bantamweight title with an 11th-round stoppage of Mexico's Christian Esquivel.

Yamanaka improved to 15-0-2 (11KOs) and Esquivel dropped to 24-3 (18 KOs).
