Yuri Foreman, the aspiring rabbi-to-be who briefly held a piece of the 154-pound title, took a beating Saturday night at the hands of Pawel Wolak and lost for the second straight time.

Wolak won the first six rounds of the fight before Foreman's corner, worried about the punishment he was taking, stopped the fight between rounds.

It was Foreman's first fight since he lost his title last June at Yankee Stadium to Miguel Cotto, getting stopped in the ninth round and requiring surgery on his knee afterward. The fight was on the undercard of the Cotto-Ricardo Mayorga fight.

''I just didn't feel it tonight,'' Foreman said. ''There were no surprises, but I just didn't have it.''

Wolak, who improved to 29-1, applied pressure from the opening bell and Foreman didn't have any answer for him. By the fifth round he was taking big punches to the head and couldn't keep Wolak away from him.

Foreman, who won his first 28 fights, said he would rest before deciding about his future.
