WWE SmackDown: AJ Styles vs. Dolph Ziggler Set for December 27

AJ Styles and Dolph Ziggler will go to battle for the WWE Championship on an upcoming episode of SmackDown.
AJ Styles walked out of SmackDown’s WWE TLC victorious with the WWE Championship, the belt he won in September at the Backlash pay-per-view. He has since feuded with Dean Ambrose, who lost the title to Styles, with these two wrestling each other at TLC. Based on the Phenomenal One retaining at the show, though, it would seem these are moving in different directions.
On Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown, a fatal four-way match to determine the new No. 1 contender to the WWE Championship took place. Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler, Luke Harper, and the Miz would compete in this bout. After interference from an already eliminated A-lister, Ziggler superkicked Ambrose, pinned him, and became the future opponent to Styles belt. They will face off on the December 27 episode of SmackDown, a show that will already feature John Cena’s WWE return.

This marks Ziggler’s first WWE Title shot since SummerSlam, where he lost to Ambrose. The Showoff would follow this with a three-month long feud for the Intercontinental Championship, which wrapped up at TLC after Miz won. So, it would seem these two are going in different directions as well.
Ziggler and Styles will close out SmackDown’s year, which has been full of interesting developments like this one. These two have the opportunity to end WWE’s 2016 on a high note and start things off hot for 2017. Will they rise to the challenge?
