See how each Raw and SmackDown Champion fared this week in the WWE.

Clash of Champions is in the books, and coming out of the Raw-exclusive event, the WWE Universe witnessed only one title change hands: the US Championship. The new champion is none other than the polarizing Roman Reigns, who ended Rusev’s tenure with the belt to mixed reactions.

Other than that, all the WWE championships remained with same owners as last week. But just because Clash of Champions is behind us, that doesn’t mean titles weren’t contested outside the pay-per-view. On Raw we saw Reigns defend the US Championship and the New Day defend the Raw Tag Team Championships, and AJ Styles battled Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Championship on SmackDown.

Furthermore, Raw Women’s Champion Charlotte is slated to face Sasha Banks for the title on next week’s episode of Raw.

So with all that in mind, there’s plenty of action to recap in this week’s edition of WWE: Raw vs. SmackDown Champion Rankings.

What did it take for the New Day to put away Anderson & Gallows? What’s next for the Intercontinental Champion the Miz in his rivalry with Dolph Ziggler? And have we heard the last of Seth Rollins since losing to WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens at Clash of Champions?

Head to the next page to find out!

Note: The Cruiserweight Championship is omitted from this column as there is no corresponding title on SmackDown.

Raw Tag Team Champions The New Day vs. SmackDown Tag Team Champions Heath Slater & Rhyno

The New Day

If there’s anything to take away from the New Day’s back-to-back title defenses this week, it’s that they’ve found an edge again.

The New Day resorted to a little bit of underhandedness at Clash of Champions when Xavier Woods used the trombone to help Kofi Kingston and Big E get the pin on Anderson & Gallows. Then, the next night on Raw, the WWE Universe watched them endure a grueling rematch which left Kofi busted open.

The aggressive swing is a welcome change of pace for the New Day. Now that they’ve felled the mighty Anderson & Gallows, the New Day appear unstoppable as they prepare for their next opponent at Hell in the Cell.

Heath Slater & Rhyno

It was another footnote week for Slater & Rhyno. The duo teamed up with American Alpha in a massive eight-man tag match against the Usos and the Ascension.

And what happened? The Usos and the Ascension beat up on Slater’s leg until he had no choice but to tap out.

So combine that with their brief cameo on SmackDown Live last week, and there hasn’t been much going on with Slater & Rhyno since winning the SmackDown Tag Team Championship.

Who had the better week? The New Day

This one is a no-brainer. The Raw Tag Team Champions of the past 400-plus days are once again on a heater.

US Champion Roman Reigns vs. Intercontinental Champion The Miz

Roman Reigns

Reigns’ conquest of Rusev at Clash of Champions happened in typical Roman Empire fashion: Reigns withstood the interference from Lana, fought out of the Accolade after almost passing out and eventually connected with a Spear for the win.

Then a count-out kept the US Championship on Reigns the next night on Raw.

Ho hum.

Some predict that an extended run with the US Championship might do Reigns some good—much like it did with John Cena two years ago. However, the continuing difference between Reigns and Cena has always been match quality.

Reigns has been better lately at putting on some edge-of-your-seat affairs, but Cena consistently created the illusion that there was still a chance he could lose when he had the belt. Reigns doesn’t give off that aura yet, but we are still only in the honeymoon of his US Championship victory.

The Miz

If the Miz’s Intercontinental Championship reign is going to last forever like he predicts, it’s possible that his feud with Dolph Ziggler could continue just as long.

Of course, that notion seemed to change this week with the stipulation being added to their No Mercy Match that if Ziggler loses, he leaves WWE. The thing is, we’ve all heard that before.

No matter who wins or loses in the Intercontinental Championship match next week, odds are Ziggler will still be employed. But assuming he is, it’s likely that he and the A-Lister will continue to dance circles around the IC belt.

Who had the better week?: Roman Reigns

A title win is a great way to gain momentum… Not that Reigns really needed any to begin with.

Raw Women’s Champion Charlotte vs. SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch

Charlotte

It was an eventful week for the Raw Women’s Champion. Charlotte managed to survive her Triple Threat Match against Sasha Banks and Bayley at Clash of Champions, extending her healthy title reign.

But that doesn’t mean anything is settled between Charlotte and her adversaries.

After a confrontation with Sasha Banks on Raw—where Banks slapped Charlotte and delivered the Bank Statement to Dana Brooke—Charlotte is set to face the Boss in a one-on-one match next week on Raw.

On top of all that, Bayley is still waiting in the wing. It wouldn’t be surprising if she got a title shot in the near future as well.

Next week’s Raw should shed a lot of light on the Raw Women’s Championship picture.

Becky Lynch

The extent of Becky Lynch’s week can be summed up rather quickly: Alexa Bliss assaulted Lynch on her way out for a match on SmackDown Live, and Becky was unable to compete.

Considering that the two women are set to face off in just over one week’s time for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, Becky needs to gain some steam (no pun intended) to affirm that she is in fact that champ.

Will she be able to do so, or will her title reign come to an abrupt end?

Who had the better week? Charlotte

Charlotte has firmly established herself as the woman to beat across both Raw and SmackDown.

WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens vs WWE World Champion AJ Styles

Kevin Owens

Whether or not Stephanie McMahon helped KO at Clash of Champions remains up for debate, but the WWE Universal Champion definitely got a leg up from his best friend Chris Jericho in his title defense against Seth Rollins.

Owens’ victory was doubly-sour for Rollins, who suffered some injured ribs during the match. But given that Rollins showed up on Raw with revenge in mind, the safe bet is that the two men will meet again at Hell in a Cell, within the confines of the steel structure.

Kevin Owens shouldn’t be worried, though. Now backed by Chris Jericho and—possibly—the Authority, Owens has allies who are going out of their way to make sure the belt stays around the waist of the Prizefighter.

AJ Styles

With the help of an unintentional distraction from John Cena, AJ Styles managed to retain the WWE World Championship in a rematch against Dean Ambrose on SmackDown Live.

However, the celebration was short-lived for Styles, as he ended up receiving an AA from John Cena after the match.

Cena is focused on making history by defeating Styles for his 16th world title win. And Dean Ambrose is… Dean Ambrose. Both men are hungry to take the belt from Styles, and the Phenomenal One will surely have his work cut out for him at No Mercy.

Who had the better week? Kevin Owens

Everything is turning up KO lately. Even though he is arguably the less proficient athlete in the ring between he and Styles, right now Owens has the right people pulling for him on the Red Brand.

The Score: Raw: 4; SmackDown: 0

It’s a clean sweep by the Raw champions this week, and it makes sense seeing how all titleholders on the Red Brand stepped their game up. SmackDown looks to turn things around heading into No Mercy, so join us next week for another edition of WWE: Raw vs. SmackDown Champion Rankings and find out which champions made the grade.
