WWE NXT Results: Highlights, Analysis, and Grades for November 30

WWE NXT, Source: WWE.com
This week’s episode of WWE NXT was taped in Ottawa, Ontario, on the heels of Survivor Series weekend. Find out everything that took place on the show here!
Previously on WWE NXT, all the action took place in Toronto. Prior to TakeOver: Toronto, a pair of matches were taped to fill in the space between TakeOver recaps. Up first was Rich Swann taking on Kona Reeves. Thanks to SAnitY making an appearance, it was a no contest.
The second match had its seeds planted ahead of TakeOver. Ember Moon, Liv Morgan, and Aliyah teamed up to defeat Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, and Daria Berenato. It’s a little surprising that Mandy Rose didn’t join up with the Mean Girls, but Berenato is a solid competitor.
This week, we get one more week of the NXT Canadian Road Trip. Tonight’s matches were all taped in Ottawa over the extended Survivor Series weekend.
In response to the attack on his occasional tag partner last week, No Way Jose will challenge Eric Young. SAnitY is a formidable force, so Jose has his work cut out for him. What else will be in store this week?

Asuka vs. Nicole Matthews
Result: Asuka defeated Nicole Matthews via submission.
Rating: 2.0 out of 5 stars
Poor Nicole Matthews. No entrance, no announcement, and a match against the most dominant woman in NXT.

The way Asuka is being portrayed now is scary. Just seeing the look in her eyes whenever an opponent gets in the most minuscule amount of offense is nuts. I greatly appreciate the ridiculous over the top screaming as she attacks. You can’t understand a word she says, but it clearly means “I’M GOING TO KICK YOUR HEAD CLEAN OFF YOUR SHOULDERS.”

Possibly my favorite spot in recent memory was the kick sequence. When Matthews just passed out before the final blow, I couldn’t stop laughing. It’s so believable, yet so ridiculous. I’m shocked it hasn’t been done before. But it got a good crowd response, and Asuka sold it very well, too.
All in all, a good opener to the show. It furthers the main woman’s storyline in NXT – Asuka is superior to all – even if basically a squash.

Samoa Joe Backstage
Joe hypes the rematch with Nakamura in Japan taking place this Saturday, but who cares – Tye Dillinger is here! And, uh, he’s got a death wish. It’s a bold strategy, we’ll see how it works out for him later tonight.
But, wow, what a slap! And good for Dillinger getting a look against the top guys in NXT. He’s more than earned a shot to play with the big boys, and I for one hope he runs with it.
No Way Jose vs. Eric Young (w/ Sawyer Fulton, Alexander Wolfe, and Nikki Cross)
Result: Eric Young defeated No Way Jose via pinfall.
Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars
This match accomplished so much for literally everyone involved. And that includes Fulton and Wolfe on the outside.

First off, it establishes No Way Jose as a legitimate threat in the ring. He’s had a good run since debuting, but he’s the fun guy. Always a little goofy, so you never have to take him seriously. But he hung in there with Eric Young, who let’s not forget is a former TNA World Champion. And Jose looked like he had a chance until the numbers advantage killed him.
Second, Young looked like a million bucks here. He took Jose’s beating and made him look like a star. Then he dished out his own stuff, and looked like a former world champ. He even managed to reign in the crazy a little bit, which makes me wonder if he’s really that insane.

And how about the rest of SAnitY? They were the perfect mix of a group of James Bond villain henchmen and total wackadoos. Fulton and Wolfe especially found the perfect time to inject their brand of lunacy into the match, giving Young the (blatantly unfair) advantage.
Finally, Nikki Cross, bless her heart. I don’t know who told her that jumping up and down and waving her arms was the perfect distraction, but here we are. She looked like a little kid – “HEY, MA, OVER HERE, LOOK AT ME, LOOK WHAT I CAN DO.” But it worked, and clearly, she’s being portrayed as the craziest in a group of looney toons.
#SAnitY's @NikkiCrossWWE can NOT be tamed! @WWENoWayJose #WWENXT pic.twitter.com/kBAIvbu8E6

My only concern is where things go with Cross getting physical with the male wrestlers. I won’t get into whether it’s a good thing or a bad thing here, but WWE will not go for any intergender wrestling at the moment. So if Cross is going to attack Jose like with the dropkick, how will he respond? It’s a weird spot with the way the company is set up at the moment.
Samoa Joe vs. Tye Dillinger
Result: Samoa Joe defeated Tye Dillinger via submission.
Rating: 2.6 out of 5 stars
Samoa Joe is so next level right now, it’s not even fair. Whatever Lazarus Pit they have hiding out in the Performance Center is working wonders for him right now.
NXT and the writers go 3 for 3 on this week’s episode in terms of trying to tell a simple story in a match and nailing it. Here, Dillinger is trying to get over his disappointment at outright failing at TakeOver. He’s the hometown boy, who everyone wants to see get the W, and he fell short.
Never underestimate the agility of #NXTChampion @SamoaJoe… @WWEDillinger #WWENXT pic.twitter.com/txntjz6VIY
— WWE NXT (@WWENXT) December 1, 2016
How does he respond? By slapping the taste out of the mouth of the most vicious man in NXT. It’s… not a great idea.
Before the match, Dillinger admits it may have been a mistake, but says he has to do it. Remember, he feels the need to be the absolute best, and anything less is failure. So what better way to be the best than to challenge the best?
#NXTChampion @SamoaJoe will do ANYTHING to keep @WWEDillinger from proving him wrong on #WWENXT on @WWENetwork! pic.twitter.com/I2c2ECE5pb

The match is 90-percent Joe, because come on. Whenever Dillinger looked like he was getting somewhere, it was more like Joe was toying with him. That powerslam from the champ was insane.
But still, Dillinger fought hard, and good on him for getting the “pass out instead of tap out” finish. I really thought he was going to connect on the Tyebreaker only for Joe to kick out, but it’s better to protect the move. Plus, Tye gets the good reaction from a hometown crowd.
#NXTChampion @SamoaJoe is victorious… but what's next for The #Perfect10 @WWEDillinger? #WWENXT pic.twitter.com/fLp5bD9Lfz

Yeah, it’s probably a cliche, but this match was pretty darn close to a Perfect Ten.
What did you think of this week’s episode of WWE NXT?
