WWE No Mercy 2016: Predictions

A look at our predictions for the WWE No Mercy pay-per-view.
On Sunday night, the WWE No Mercy pay-per-view will take place from Sacramento, CA. This is SmackDown’s second Brand Extension show since the WWE Draft. They’ll have every champion compete and some of the top stars in WWE in action.
The main event of No Mercy will see Dean Ambrose and John Cena challenge AJ Styles for the WWE World Championship. This match got made shortly after Backlash in September.
We have seen Styles make one successful title defense over Ambrose. However, it was with the pull of the tights. We’ll see if The Phenomenal One can pull off the win at No Mercy, but under somewhat normal circumstances.
Becky Lynch vs. Alexa Bliss had been set to be one of the top matches of the show. A report came out on Saturday night, though, that said Lynch got injured and the match would be off. So far, WWE has not confirmed this. If true, it’s the second consecutive SmackDown show that a match would have to be canceled. Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton got canceled for Backlash.
Another main match for No Mercy is Heath Slater and Rhyno challenging The Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. This is a rematch from the finals of the tag title tournament in September.
So, who will walk out of No Mercy with a win? Here are our predictions for the show.

Baron Corbin vs. Jack Swagger
The pre-show match for No Mercy will see Jack Swagger and Baron Corbin continue their rivalry. This has taken place for the past few weeks ever since Swagger came over from Raw.
These two had a match on the most recent episode of SmackDown. It saw Swagger win via submission, but controversially. As The Lone Wolf went to grab the ropes during the Patriot Lock, he made a motion that looked like he tapped out. The referee saw this and rang the bell, awarding the win to The Real American.
More from Daily DDT
For their rematch, Corbin should get the win here. Swagger’s use for the past few years would indicate that there’s not much upside in having him walk out victorious. Maybe a win for the former NXT star will propel him to bigger things.
Prediction: Baron Corbin defeats Jack Swagger
Carmella vs. Nikki Bella
It feels like every time Nikki Bella turns around, Carmella is there to beat her down. That’s been the story of this feud for the past month ever since The Princess of Staten Island turned heel.
Bella has been back for the past two months after dealing with neck surgery that had been potentially career-ending. She made a miraculous recovery, though, and has looked strong since coming back.
With Carmella having dominated most of the rivalry, and Nikki barely getting the edge, we’ll give the win to the latter. It may help with promotion for “Total Bellas”, which recently began airing.
Prediction: Nikki Bella defeats Carmella
Next: Tag Titles, Orton vs. Wyatt

Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton
Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton have feuded for what seems like an eternity without wrestling. They were supposed to face off at Backlash, but Orton couldn’t get cleared from a concussion he suffered at SummerSlam. Wyatt would face Kane in a No Disqualifications match, but lost.
Wyatt and Orton could use victories here. The Eater of Worlds may be in the bigger must-win situation, though, since he has barely won a PPV singles match over the past 18 months. He’s going against one of the longest tenured WWE stars, however.
Despite Wyatt needing the win, The Viper will walk out of No Mercy victorious. He doesn’t need this as much as the former Wyatt Family leader, but given the past booking, why should we expect anything different?
SmackDown Tag Team Championship MatchHeath Slater and Rhyno (c) vs. The Usos
No Mercy will see the rematch of Heath Slater and Rhyno vs. The Usos. This had been the finals of the SmackDown Tag Team Championship tournament in September. Slater and Rhyno would win to become the inaugural champions.
As for the second go-around, Jimmy and Jey are walking into this with plenty of momentum. Their new attitude has helped and their wins have come often. They’re systematically destroying their opponents by targeting the legs, leading to wins over American Alpha and The Hype Bros.
Rhyno and Slater have been somewhat quiet since their title win. The momentum of The One Man Band has somewhat faded in recent weeks since he got his contract. However, No Mercy could be a chance to regain it with a victory.
Beauty and The Man Beast’s reign will last only one month, though. The Usos have too much going for them and should be able to win. This should continue this natural progression into a feud with American Alpha.

Title vs. Career MatchThe Miz (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler
At No Mercy, The Miz will put his WWE Intercontinental Championship on the line against Dolph Ziggler. However, The Showoff is also voluntarily defending his WWE career in this match.
Miz has gotten the best of Ziggler for the entirety of this feud. So has Dean Ambrose and most that came before this program, though. It has been a difficult road for the former Spirit Squad member, so he chose to put everything on the line on Sunday.
We’re going to go with the A-lister walking out of here with a win. He’ll get to add retiring Ziggler to his résumé as well. Maybe we’ll get the 36-year-old returning with a new gimmick down the line then.
Prediction: The Miz defeats Dolph Ziggler
WWE World Championship MatchAJ Styles (c) vs. Dean Ambrose vs. John Cena
The main event of No Mercy will see arguably SmackDown’s three biggest stars compete against each other. This is AJ Styles’ second title defense as well, the first of which came against Dean Ambrose.
The story of this feud has been more about Ambrose and John Cena, however. These two have clashed on numerous occasions, including brawling and cutting vicious promos on each other. Styles has mostly been out of the picture when these two have fought.
We’re only one month into The Phenomenal One’s world title, so losing at No Mercy may not be in the cards. He should have a lengthy run with the belt, potentially for the rest of the year. This could lead to Ambrose and Cena moving on and into a one on one feud. Based on what we’ve seen, the seeds may be getting planted.
Prediction: AJ Styles defeats Dean Ambrose and John Cena
