WWE Hell in a Cell Rumors: Sasha Banks, Charlotte to Main Event

It seems the decision on who will main event Hell in a Cell has been made.
The biggest question coming into Sunday’s WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view is which match will main event the show. Usually, we have an indication of this weeks in advance, but given this “triple main event” tagline for the show, it pretty much meant WWE had no idea what would close the PPV. The Universal Championship would normally headline, but with a first-ever women’s Hell in a Cell match taking place, it put things in doubt.
Well, while a decision hasn’t been made official by WWE, it seems they know which match will main event. According to PW Insider, Sasha Banks and Charlotte for the Raw Women’s Championship will be the headliner.
Plans could always change since WWE hasn’t publicly noted this yet, but if so, more history will be made on Sunday night. Women have never main evented a company PPV before, so Banks and Charlotte would be the first to do so. This doesn’t count when The Boss and Bayley closed NXT TakeOver: Respect in October 2015.
The ingredients are there for this match to be the main event. Charlotte and Sasha have feuded since January, battling at WrestleMania 32, SummerSlam, and multiple times on Raw. The Raw Women’s Championship has also been traded three times with Banks most recently winning it back earlier this month. While the Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns vs. Rusev feuds have had their moments, neither has seen the impactful moments or longevity that this program has. Plus, this is Banks’ hometown of Boston, MA, which should help a little.
Barring a last-minute change, Charlotte and Sasha Banks will close the Hell in a Cell PPV. It’s a moment years in the making and should provide fans in attendance with a spectacle.
