When it seems too good to be true in WWE, it usually is. Case in point: Zack Ryder winning the Intercontinetal Championship on Sunday night at WrestleMania 32 in Texas.
A day later in Dallas, Ryder decided to prove he wanted to be a fighting champion. And fight he did, after praising his father, who was ringside, for taking the Long Islander to shows at Madison Square Garden as a youngster.
Ryder's dad, clad in a Superman T-shirt, became involved in the match as The Miz confronted him. Ryder's dad shoved The Miz to the ground.
Cue, Maryse, The Miz' real-life wife. She entered the action and got in the face of Ryder's dad.
In the ring, Ryder was distracted by the events outside ropes and was caught in The Miz' finishing hold.
One, two, three and that was the end of the Zack Ryder reign as Intercontinental Champion.
