Sasha Banks, Charlotte No Longer Headlining WWE Hell in a Cell 2016?

What is actually going on Sasha Banks and Charlotte potentially headlining WWE Hell in a Cell?

Earlier Tuesday Raw GM Mick Foley made a post on his official Facebook page. He talked about the fact that Raw Women’s Champion Sasha Banks’ title defense against Charlotte would “Main Event” at the upcoming Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.

Let’s just soak that in a little. Foley said that a women’s division match would main event a WWE pay-per-view? Fans around the world thought the unthinkable had happened. Social Media was abuzz with people talking about how these two women could feel amazingly proud to be the first women to main event a WWE PPV.

These two women had main evented Raw only a few weeks ago, to a great reception from the crowd. The Women’s Revolution looked to have hit its ultimate pinnacle with Foley’s Facebook announcement. But a few hours later, he kinda changed the whole phrasing of the post. Oh, and he added a little more detail.

Maybe WWE wanted to have the announcement as a big surprise on the night, much like when the SmackDown World Heavyweight Championship match went on first a few weeks ago at No Mercy. Or maybe Foley just got a bit carried away with his posting and was then told to change what he had actually said. To start with it certainly looked like Foley was saying that the match would be the main event, now not so much.

The fact that Sasha Banks and Charlotte are set to be the first women to have a match inside Hell in a Cell is something that they should both be extremely proud of. Whatever spot the match takes on the card, it will still be one of the best matches on the night. These women are too talented for it not to be.

It would seem that they may not be the first women to main event a WWE pay-per-view. Not at Hell in a Cell at least.
