WWE will apparently be buying TNA’s video library while the latter will have Billy Corgan as the majority owner.

For the past few weeks, there have been rumors of WWE potentially buying TNA. Dixie Carter, who is the majority owner of TNA, has been at the forefront of the discussions. It seemed there had been a chance of her selling to WWE instead of Billy Corgan, who wants to become the majority owner.

Well, it seems plans have developed, but aren’t confirmed. According to Justin Labar of WrestleZone, WWE is going to buy TNA’s video library. Corgan will also become TNA’s majority owner and likely rebrand the company.

WWE buying TNA’s video library is a groundbreaking development. That’s 14 years of footage to add to the WWE Network, which would be a way of drawing in Impact Wrestling fans. They could see the mid-2000’s when Samoa Joe and AJ Styles dominated TNA. How about Kurt Angle’s long run with the company?

There are all the pay-per-views that TNA put on over the years too. They used to run monthly shows, which slowed down in recent years. Potentially having all those shows on WWE’s streaming service could be another enticing way to increase subscribers.

TNA being rebranded may be for the best after having its image dampened in recent years. This includes all the talent that left, pay issues, and bouncing around TV networks. Corgan would be in charge of getting the company back to relevance, which may be a process, but one that could succeed. He’s already brought in the likes of Damien “Aron Rex” Sandow and Moose, and could acquire other talents over the coming months.

So, if this rumor is true, it would be the latest moment of a wild year in wrestling. What else could develop from this situation?
