Kevin Owens Comments on Upcoming WWE Hell in a Cell Match

Kevin Owens recently sat with Sky Sports to discuss his upcoming Hell in a Cell match against Seth Rollins.
Kevin Owens is set to defend his WWE Universal title against Seth Rollins this Sunday. The heavily anticipated match will happen inside WWE’s most demonic structure – Hell in a Cell. This year, the PPV boasts three Hell in a Cell matches. Roman Reigns and Rusev, as well as Sasha Banks and Charlotte, will all step into the cage to settles their scores. Titles will be defended and bodies will be put on the line.
Owens recently sat with Sky Sports ahead of his HIAC match. The Universal champion is no stranger to hardcore matches. He will be looking to create something memorable during his first time inside the structure. Regardless, when asked about his upcoming match with Rollins, the champion had only one word to describe it—daunting.
“Everyone wants to make their match as memorable as possible and I will be looking to give people something to talk about, but I’m not exactly looking forward to being in the Cell.
It is pretty daunting – the Cell has been responsible for some amazing matches but it can also lead to some pretty real injuries, so that plays into your mind.
As history making as Sunday will be, you can’t lose track of the fact it is a dangerous match.”
Owens’ words are by no means an exaggeration. Though WWE has taken a more PG approach in recent times, matches like these are still dangerous. Two years ago, we saw Ambrose and Rollins take a fall from the top of the structure. This year, during Wrestlemania, we watched in awe as Shane jumped from the top of the cell. These moments are proof that even in a PG environment, the devil’s playground is not your average match.
The Universal champion was asked about his favorite Hell in a Cell match eventually. Many people would list the match between Undertaker and Mick Foley as their favorite. Owens, however, had a different perspective.
“The Hell in a Cell match that always sticks in my mind is the original Michaels versus Undertaker match. It was really something. The bout itself was so good, while Kane’s debut made it even more memorable. That takes the cake in terms of Hell in a Cell matches.”
Owens spoke about a few more topics during the interview. He went on to reminisce about his time in the indies and of when he won the Universal title.
