Former WWE star Alberto Del Rio misses event after being stabbed

Alberto Del Rio was released by WWE in September following an unsuccessful comeback run and a suspension for violating the WWE wellness policy, and he returned to Mexico to work for for Asistencia Asesoria y Administracion, where he wrestled previously as Alberto El Patron.Â
Alberto, whose real name is Jose Alberto RodrÃÂguez, made headlines over the weekend after he was a no-show at AAA's Heroes Inmortales X, where he was scheduled to wrestle in the main event Sunday night. AAA released a statement afterward criticizing Rodriguez for his "lack of commitment" and claiming that he failed his Mexican fans.Â
It turns out that Rodriguez had a good reason to miss the show. He released a statement on Instagram, directed at AAA, claiming he was assaulted and stabbed before his flight to Monterrey. Del Rio says he will be able to compete this weekend.Â
