Alberto Del Rio No-Showed AAA Wrestling Show

Alberto Del Rio didn’t show up for an AAA event on Sunday night.
In September, Alberto Del Rio and WWE parted ways after less than a year. This had been Del Rio’s second stint with the company, which started with a surprise return at Hell in a Cell 2015. He defeated John Cena, won the United States Championship, and seemed primed for big things.
However, a failed partnership with Zeb Colter and joining the momentumless League of Nations clouded this run. To top it off, Mexico’s Greatest Export violated WWE’s Wellness Policy in August. Weeks later, the two sides agreed to part ways.
Well, on Sunday, Del Rio would reappear. After PW Insider reported he had been in Orlando, the site of TNA’s Bound for Glory pay-per-view, speculation started on whether we’d see the former WWE Champion on the show. He didn’t end up appearing, but also didn’t show up at the event he had been scheduled for, Heroes Inmortales X for AAA. Del Rio had been set to team with Psycho Clown to face Dr. Wagner Jr. and Pagano.
AAA released an official statement on the situation. They noted that Del Rio confirmed he would be there the morning of the show, and had failed the fans.
The Orlando speculation seemed to indicate something would happen with TNA, which didn’t happen. It’s still disappointing to see him no show an event in his home country, though. This won’t help his relationship with AAA, who he had held their world title for when he re-debuted in WWE last October.
There are TV tapings for TNA this week, however, which will take them through the rest of 2016. So, could this Orlando speculation result in an appearance at the recordings from the Impact Zone?
