Brandi Brown had 23 points and 11 rebounds to help Youngstown State end a 34-game losing streak with a 71-57 win over Bucknell on Wednesday night.

The win was the first for the Penguins since March 7, 2009, when they beat Valparaiso.

Heidi Schlegel added a career-high 11 points while Kenya Middlebrooks had 10 for Youngstown State, which finished well short of the NCAA women's record for consecutive losses over multiple seasons of 58 set by Long Island University from 1987-89.

Trailing 50-49 midway through the second half, Liz Hornberger hit a 3-pointer and Middlebrooks added a layup to give the Penguins a 54-50 lead. Bucknell cut its deficit to one on Shelby Romine's 3-pointer, but Youngstown State (1-3) scored the next 10 points to seal its victory.
