Chaundra Sewell scored a career-high 30 points and added 10 rebounds, leading Wyoming past Chadron State 69-61 on Thursday night for the Cowgirls' first win of the season.

Sewell was 11 of 16 (69 percent) from the field. Her previous career high of 23 points came in a win over Idaho last Dec. 4. Sewell's 11 field goals were one more than the combined total for her teammates, who shot 10 of 38 (26 percent).

Ashley Sickles, the leading scorer for the Cowgirls (1-2) coming into the game, added 13 points, six rebounds and five assists as Wyoming ran its all-time record against Chadron State to 9-0.

Kaitlin Petri had 18 points for the Eagles (0-2), who erased a 10-point halftime deficit and pulled even, 36-36, with 13:07 to play. But Sewell scored Wyoming's next 12 points as part of a 17-4 run that put the game out of reach.
