The NCAA has granted Purdue forward Drey Mingo a sixth year of eligibility, allowing her to play for the women's basketball team next season.
Mingo, who transferred from Maryland after her sophomore year, contracted a life-threatening case of bacterial meningitis in late November 2010 which resulted in partial hearing loss. She missed four games in 2010-11 and was limited in many more while recovering. Despite not playing at full strength for much of that season, Mingo averaged 12 points per game and led the Boilermakers with 5.8 rebounds per game that season. Mingo shot 51.3 percent from the field, including a school-record mark of 48.2 percent (27 of 56) from 3-point range.
She then missed all of last season with a torn ACL.
