Da'Shena Stevens scored 17 points and Shenneika Smith added 15 to lead No. 20 St. John's to a 73-49 win over Rhode Island on Saturday.

Centhya Hart chipped in with 14 points for the Red Storm (9-1), who held the Rams (5-5) to only eight points over the opening 12 minutes of the second half to take control.

Freshman Kerry Wallack scored a career-high 15 points for Rhode Island, and her 3-pointer with just under nine minutes left in the first half gave the Rams a 20-16 lead.

But St. John's answered with a 12-4 run and took a 34-30 lead into halftime.
