Rebekah Gardner scored 14 points to help No. 13 UCLA beat Montana State 54-44 on Sunday.

Antoyne Nyingifa added 11 points for the Bruins (7-0), who outrebounded the Bobcats 43-29.

Montana State (2-7) put together a 7-0 run to trim UCLA's lead to 46-40 with 4:08 left. Lyndi Seidensticker capped the surge with a 3-pointer.

Gardner followed with consecutive layups to restore the Bruins' double-digit lead at 50-40.

Chelsea Banis had 16 points and Katie Bussey added nine for Montana State, which stayed close despite shooting 30 percent from the field.

UCLA opened the second half with an 8-0 run, increasing its lead to 32-14 on Markel Walker's jumper.

The Bruins went 8 for 21 from the free-throw line.
