LSU women's basketball head coach Nikki Caldwell is a mother.

A news release from the university says Justice Simone Fargas was born at 5:44 a.m. Tuesday at 6 pounds, 15 ounces - less than two days after the Caldwell and LSU lost to Tennessee Sunday in the Southeastern Conference championship game.

The release says Caldwell and the baby are resting comfortably with her longtime boyfriend, Justin Fargas, a former Oakland Raiders running back.

The university says Caldwell will coach in the team's 21st NCAA tournament appearance.
