Charlotte tabs Marquette's Consuegra women's coach

Charlotte has hired Marquette assistant and former Iowa standout Cara Consuegra as women's basketball coach.
Consuegra was introduced Tuesday as Karen Aston's replacement. Aston resigned earlier this month and was later hired as coach at North Texas.
Consuegra spent the past seven seasons at Marquette. The Golden Eagles reached the postseason each season, including the second round of the NCAA tournament this year.
A former star point guard, Consuegra holds Iowa's single-season and career assist records. The former all-conference selection was voted the most outstanding player of the 2001 Big Ten Tournament.
The 32-year-old Consuegra becomes Charlotte's fourth coach in 10 years. She takes over a team that lost in the WNIT semifinals last season.
