LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) Nebraska volleyball coach John Cook is receiving a 31 percent raise to $600,000 per year under terms of a contract extension through January 2021.

Athletic director Shawn Eichorst announced the extension Thursday.

Cook led the 2015 Cornhuskers to the school's third national championship in volleyball. He'll be entering his 17th season at Nebraska this fall.

This year will mark the first time Cook is paid more than the school's women's basketball coach. New basketball coach Amy Williams is making $575,000 a year.

Cook says he's grateful to coach at Nebraska and appreciates the support Eichorst has given the volleyball program. Cook said he looks forward to his program ''continuing to compete for championships in front of the best fans in college sports.''
