Tomic charged with 2 traffic offenses in Australia

Teenage Australian tennis star Bernard Tomic is due to appear in court on Feb. 14 charged with two traffic offenses.

Police say the 19-year-old Tomic had been charged with failing to stop his car when requested and with not keeping to the left of double dividing lines on the road.

The charges relate to incidents on the Jan. 26 Australia Day holiday when Tomic was twice ticketed by police while driving his high-powered BMW sports car.

After being issued with the second ticket, he was followed home but refused to speak to officers for almost three hours until his lawyer arrived.

Tomic has engaged lawyer Chris Nyst, who says he will seek a meeting with Police Commissioner Bob Atkinson to settle the matter.
