In St. Petersburg and Metz, both 250-level tournaments, finals will be played on Sunday.  Here are the predictions for the St. Petersburg Open and the Moselle Open.

St. Petersburg Open: The final will be contested between U.S. Open champion Stan Wawrinka and a rising star, 19-year old Alexander Zverev of Germany.  This will be the first meeting between the two players.

I think that Wawrinka will take the title here in two sets.  While Zverev is certainly a rising star in the sport, Wawrinka is simply too much for him here.

At the Moselle Open in Metz, France, France will have one of its own going for the title here. Lucas Pouille, the third seed at the tournament, will be going up against the first seed, Dominic Thiem, in a battle of two of the top younger players on the tour.  Pouille won the only matchup between the two players.  It occurred in 2015, with Pouille taking the match 6-4, 6-4 in Monte Carlo.

I’m going to take Pouille in a very tight three-set matchup.  I think that the home-crowd advantage will help propel him deep in a third set. He’s shown how well he can play at big tournaments and I think he gets the title.
