Simon beats Troicki for Sydney title

Gilles Simon defeated fourth-seeded Victor Troicki of Serbia 7-5, 7-6 (4) in the final of the Sydney International for his eighth career title.
It was the second title in three months for unseeded Simon, who could face Roger Federer in the second round of the Australian Open next week.
After losing the first set, Troicki was a double break up at 3-0 in the second set before losing six of the next nine games and the tiebreaker.
A day earlier, Li Na won her fourth career WTA title, overcoming a 5-0 deficit in the first set to beat third-seeded Kim Clijsters 7-6 (3), 6-3 in the women's final.
Clijsters jumped out to an early lead, but the Belgian collapsed in the opening set and played poorly in the second set. Clijsters had won 27 of her previous 30 matches, collecting a third U.S. Open title and the 2010 year-end championship.
