Serena Williams hits dazzling trick shots with Dude Perfect

Published May. 24, 2016 12:30 p.m. ET

What do you get when you take the guys famous for making baskets out of airplanes, from the top of canyons both grand and not and while standing on the top of a skyscraper, then cross them with the greatest female athlete in the world? A lot of tennis balls causing things to explode.

Serena Williams became the latest athlete to be drawn into the bro-y world of Dude Perfect and her seven-minute highlight video, which has been viewed 2.5 million times in the first 24 hours, is a fun, entertaining diversion to watch as Serena starts her French Open title defense on Tuesday afternoon.

Whatever you think of the Dude Perfect guys and the hangers-on whose sole job seems to be wearing backwards hats and running around screaming after the trick finally works (editing has never been so important as when you're a bad tennis player trying to use a racquet and ball like it's skeet shooting), this one is worth a watch.

Serena is engaging as always and, in addition to her tennis prowess, she drops some knowledge on Pluto and answers the eternal question: Pop Tarts or toaster strudel. (Gretchen Weiners' father would be pleased to hear about this.)

The world No. 1 plays Magdalena Rybarikova on Tuesday afternoon at Roland Garros, hoping for the first of seven wins that would bring her a fourth French Open title and her record-tying 22nd overall.
