Serbia's foreign minister appointed tennis chief

Published Nov. 24, 2011 3:42 p.m. ET

Serbia's foreign minister has been elected the country's tennis federation president after Slobodan Zivojinovic resigned following a disagreement with Novak Djokovic's family.

Vuk Jeremic was appointed at a federation meeting Thursday and Djokovic's uncle Goran Djokovic became vice president.

Former top-ranked player Zivojinovic had fallen out with Djokovic's family after Serbia won the Davis Cup last year. The father of the top-ranked Djokovic had said Zivojinovic did little to help the careers of his son or other Serbian players.

Zivojinovic said he resigned because of his obligations with the International Tennis Federation and its Davis Cup committee.
